Color Accuracy

The degree to which photographed colors match the actual product colors, critical for reducing e-commerce returns.

Color inaccuracy is a leading cause of e-commerce returns — customers receive products that look different from the listing images. Factors affecting color accuracy include lighting color temperature, camera white balance settings, monitor calibration, and color space conversions. Professional product photographers use color checkers and gray cards to establish accurate white balance. Post-processing color correction verifies that product colors match physical samples. sRGB is the standard color space for web display, and images should be converted to sRGB before uploading to ensure consistent appearance across different monitors. Even with perfect technical execution, screen-to-screen variation means colors will appear slightly different on every viewer's device.
