White Balance

A color adjustment that ensures white objects appear truly white in a photo by compensating for the color temperature of the light source.

Different light sources emit light at different color temperatures: incandescent bulbs are warm (yellow), fluorescent lights are cool (blue-green), and daylight varies throughout the day. Cameras attempt to set white balance automatically but often get it wrong. Correcting white balance removes unwanted color casts and is usually the first step in color correction.
