Matte
A grayscale image that defines which parts of a photo are visible and which are hidden, used for compositing.
A matte functions similarly to a mask: white areas are visible, black areas are hidden, and gray areas are semi-transparent. Mattes are generated during background removal and are essential for clean compositing. High-quality mattes capture fine details like individual hair strands and semi-transparent fabrics.
