Strip metadata from photos before sharing

Upload one or more images and the tool removes all embedded metadata — EXIF camera info, GPS coordinates, timestamps, IPTC captions, XMP editing history, and thumbnail data. The pixel content stays identical; only the hidden metadata is deleted. Download clean files that reveal nothing about where, when, or how the photo was taken.

Features

1

Complete metadata removal

Strips EXIF, IPTC, XMP, GPS, ICC profile tags, and embedded thumbnails. The output file contains only the pixel data and the minimum headers required by the format.

2

Selective removal

Choose to remove all metadata or select specific categories to strip — for example, remove only GPS and camera data while keeping copyright and caption fields intact.

3

Batch processing

Drop up to 200 files and strip them all in one operation. Download the cleaned files individually or as a single ZIP archive.

4

Before-and-after comparison

The tool shows a summary of what was found and what was removed — total metadata size, number of GPS tags, camera tags, and editing history entries deleted.

How to use

Common questions

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

+

No. The tool removes only the metadata bytes. The actual pixel data is copied unchanged, so the image quality is identical before and after. File size may decrease slightly because the metadata bytes are gone.

Why should I remove metadata before sharing?

+

Photo metadata can include your GPS location, camera serial number, editing history, and the date and time the photo was taken. Stripping this data protects your privacy when posting images online or sending them to others.

Will social media platforms strip metadata for me?

+

Some platforms like Facebook and Twitter strip most EXIF data on upload, but not all platforms do, and the behavior can change. Removing metadata yourself before uploading guarantees it is gone regardless of where you share the image.
