Upload a logo or icon and the tool outputs favicons in all the sizes modern browsers, operating systems, and PWA manifests require — from the classic 16 x 16 ICO to the 512 x 512 PNG for Android home screens. Download a ready-to-deploy package with the HTML snippet included.

Features

1

Complete size coverage

Generates 16 x 16, 32 x 32, and 48 x 48 for traditional browsers; 180 x 180 Apple Touch Icon for iOS; 192 x 192 and 512 x 512 for Android PWA manifests. Every common size in a single pass.

2

ICO and PNG output

The package includes a multi-resolution .ico file (containing 16, 32, and 48 px layers) and individual PNG files for each size. Both formats are ready for direct use in HTML head tags.

3

Crop and padding editor

Adjust the crop area to isolate the icon portion of your image. Add padding to prevent the icon from touching the edges of the favicon square, which improves legibility at small sizes.

4

Background control

Keep a transparent background for modern browsers, or set a solid fill color for Apple Touch Icons (which do not support transparency). Preview both modes before downloading.

How to use

1

Upload your image

Drop a PNG, SVG, JPEG, or WebP file into the generator. Square images at 512 px or larger produce the sharpest results.

2

Crop and adjust

Drag the crop handles to isolate the icon area. Add padding if the icon needs breathing room. Set the background to transparent or a solid color.

3

Preview all sizes

The tool renders every target size simultaneously so you can verify that the icon is recognizable at 16 px and looks sharp at 512 px.

4

Download the package

Download a ZIP containing all favicon files plus an HTML snippet you can paste into your site's <head> tag to reference every icon correctly.

Common questions

What image size should I start with?

+

Start with a square image at least 512 x 512 px. The generator downscales from this master, so a high-resolution source ensures every smaller size is crisp. SVG files work best because they scale without quality loss.

Do I need all six sizes?

+

For maximum compatibility, yes. The 16 and 32 px ICO covers legacy browsers, the 180 px PNG is required for iOS Safari bookmarks, and the 192/512 px PNGs are needed for Android PWA install prompts and splash screens.

How do I add the favicons to my website?

+

The download package includes an HTML snippet. Paste it into your site's <head> section. It references the ICO file for browsers and the PNG files for Apple and Android devices. Most frameworks also support placing favicon.ico in the root directory.

Logo too complex for a tiny favicon?

Use Background Eraser to isolate the core symbol from your full logo, then feed the clean icon into the favicon generator. A simpler shape reads better at 16 px.
