Convert image DPI for print or screen
Upload an image and change its DPI value. Choose between metadata-only mode, which updates the DPI tag without touching pixels, and resample mode, which scales the image to match a target print size at the new DPI. A built-in calculator shows the physical print dimensions at any DPI.

Metadata-only mode
Change the DPI value stored in the file header without resampling any pixels. The image stays the same size in pixels but reports a different resolution to print software.
Resample mode
Scale the image so it prints at a specific physical size at the target DPI. For example, convert a 3000 × 2000 px image to 300 DPI and the tool calculates that it prints at 10 × 6.67 inches.
Print size calculator
Enter pixel dimensions and DPI to see the physical print size in inches and centimeters. Useful for checking whether an image has enough resolution for a given print size.
Common presets
Quick buttons for 72 DPI (web), 150 DPI (draft print), 300 DPI (high-quality print), and 600 DPI (fine art). One click sets the target DPI.
How to use
Upload an image
Drag a JPEG, PNG, or TIFF file into the tool. The current DPI and pixel dimensions are displayed immediately.
Set target DPI
Click a preset or enter a custom DPI value. Choose metadata-only or resample mode depending on your goal.
Review and download
Check the output dimensions and print size, then download the converted image. The original file is never modified.

Common questions
What is the difference between DPI and PPI?
+
DPI (dots per inch) refers to printer output; PPI (pixels per inch) refers to screen or image resolution. In practice they are used interchangeably when preparing digital images for print. This tool sets the PPI value in the image metadata, which print software interprets as DPI.
Does changing DPI improve image quality?
+
Changing the DPI metadata alone does not add pixels or detail. To genuinely increase resolution, use resample mode or an AI upscaler. Metadata-only mode simply tells the printer how large to render the existing pixels.
What DPI do I need for printing?
+
300 DPI is the standard for high-quality photo printing. 150 DPI is acceptable for large-format prints and posters viewed from a distance. 72 DPI is the default for web and screen use.
Image resolution too low for print?
AI Enhance can upscale images up to 4x, genuinely adding detail with AI. Increase the pixel count first, then set the DPI for your target print size.
