Blur entire images or just the areas you choose

Upload an image and apply a full-frame blur or paint blur onto specific regions with a brush tool. Choose Gaussian blur for a smooth, natural defocus, box blur for a flat average, or motion blur for a directional streak. Adjust the radius to control intensity and preview the result before downloading.

Features

1

Three blur modes

Gaussian blur produces a natural, camera-like defocus. Box blur creates a flat, uniform softening. Motion blur adds a directional streak at any angle you set.

2

Selective brush blur

Paint blur onto specific regions with an adjustable brush. Set the brush size and hardness, then stroke over faces, license plates, or sensitive text to obscure them while keeping the rest of the image sharp.

3

Adjustable blur radius

Control the blur intensity from a subtle 1 px softening to a heavy 50 px defocus. The preview updates in real time as you drag the slider.

4

Full-frame and region modes

Apply blur to the entire image in one click, or switch to region mode to blur only a rectangular selection or a freehand-painted area.

How to use

1

Upload an image

Drag a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file into the tool. The image loads at full resolution in the editor.

2

Choose blur mode

Select Gaussian, box, or motion blur. Set the blur radius and, for motion blur, the angle.

3

Apply to full image or paint

Click 'Blur all' for a full-frame effect, or select the brush tool and paint blur onto specific areas.

4

Download

Click download to save the blurred image as a JPEG or PNG.

Common questions

Can I blur faces for privacy?

+

Yes. Use the brush tool to paint blur directly over faces, license plates, or any sensitive area. Increase the blur radius to 20 px or higher to make the region unrecognizable.

What is the difference between Gaussian and box blur?

+

Gaussian blur weights nearby pixels more heavily, producing a smooth, natural fall-off like an out-of-focus camera lens. Box blur averages all pixels in the radius equally, creating a flatter, more artificial softening.

Can I undo the blur after saving?

+

Once downloaded, the blur is permanently baked into the image pixels. Keep your original file if you think you might need the unblurred version later.

Want to sharpen instead of blur?

AI Enhance can intelligently sharpen soft or out-of-focus photos, recovering detail that simple sharpening filters miss. Try it on photos that need the opposite of blur.
