Color Profile

An ICC profile that defines how a device reproduces colors, enabling consistent color appearance across different displays and printers.

Color profiles (ICC profiles) map device-specific color values to a standard reference color space, enabling color management systems to translate colors accurately between devices. A monitor profile describes how that specific screen renders RGB values. A printer profile describes how that printer and paper combination reproduce CMYK values. When transferring an image from monitor to printer, the color management system converts through the profiles to maintain color fidelity. Embedded profiles in image files (typically sRGB for web, Adobe RGB for professional) tell applications how to interpret the color values. Images without embedded profiles may display differently on different devices because the application must guess which color space was intended.
