How to fix a blurry photo
Camera shake during a handheld night shot, autofocus landing on the background instead of the subject, a child moving faster than the shutter speed, a phone camera struggling in low light — blur happens to photos that can't be re-shot. Magic Eraser's AI Enhance analyzes the type and degree of blur and applies targeted sharpening that recovers detail without creating artifacts.

Not all blur is the same, and each type has a different recovery ceiling. Camera shake (the entire image is uniformly smeared in one direction because the camera moved during exposure) is the most recoverable — the detail is shifted but not destroyed, and AI can reverse the shift to reconstruct sharp edges. Autofocus miss (the intended subject is soft while another depth plane is sharp) is well-recoverable for mild defocus and partially recoverable for heavy defocus, depending on how far from the focal plane the subject was. Motion blur from subject movement (a sharp background but a blurred moving person, car, or animal) is partially recoverable — the AI can sharpen the moving subject's edges and recover some frozen detail, but heavy directional motion smear loses information that can't be fully reconstructed. Low-light softness (the image looks generally soft and grainy because the camera used a slow shutter speed and high ISO in dim conditions) responds well to AI enhancement because the softness is mild and the underlying detail structure is intact but noisy. The AI handles all four types by analyzing the blur pattern across the image and applying the appropriate correction — uniform deconvolution for camera shake, edge sharpening for defocus, directional restoration for motion blur, and combined denoising plus sharpening for low-light softness. The result is a significantly sharper image that recovers as much detail as the type of blur allows.

Upload the blurry photo
Open Magic Eraser on web, iOS, or Android. Drop in the blurry photo — the shaky handheld shot, the misfocused portrait, the low-light phone photo, the action shot with motion blur. The AI handles any source: phone cameras, DSLRs, scanned prints, downloaded images. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP supported.

Apply AI Enhance
Select AI Enhance. The AI detects the type and degree of blur present and applies targeted correction. For camera shake, it reverses the directional smear. For defocus, it sharpens soft edges and recovers texture detail. For motion blur on a moving subject, it reduces the directional streak. For low-light softness, it sharpens while simultaneously reducing the noise that low-light conditions introduce. All corrections happen in a single pass — you don't need to identify the blur type yourself.

Compare and export
Use the before/after view to see the sharpening effect. Check the areas that matter most: faces (eye clarity, skin texture), text (if any is in the image), and fine edges (hair strands, fabric texture, architectural lines). For mildly blurry photos, the AI typically recovers near-full sharpness. For heavily blurred photos, the improvement is significant but some fine detail that was destroyed by the blur can't be fully recovered. Export at full resolution.
เหมาะสำหรับ
- Handheld night and low-light photos where slow shutter speeds caused camera shake that softened the entire image
- Autofocus misses where the camera focused on the background instead of the intended subject, leaving the subject soft
- Low-light phone photos where the sensor compensated with high ISO (producing grain) and slow shutter (producing softness)
- Action and sports photos where the subject moved faster than the shutter speed, creating directional motion blur
- Photos of children and pets where unpredictable movement during exposure caused partial blur
- Scanned printed photos where the print was already slightly soft and the scan added no additional sharpness

The degree of blur determines how much the AI can recover. Mild blur (the image looks slightly soft but you can still read text and see facial features clearly) recovers almost fully — the AI essentially restores the original sharpness. Moderate blur (the image is noticeably soft, text is hard to read, facial features are visible but not detailed) improves dramatically but may not reach the sharpness of an originally sharp capture. Heavy blur (the image is very soft, shapes are recognizable but detail is gone, strong directional smear visible) improves significantly in overall clarity but fine detail is partially generated rather than recovered. For the best results on a mildly blurry photo, AI Enhance in a single pass is sufficient. For moderately blurry photos, running AI Enhance once produces the most improvement — a second pass provides diminishing returns and may introduce over-sharpening artifacts. For photos with mixed blur (some areas sharp, others blurry — common with autofocus miss), the AI applies sharpening proportionally to the degree of blur in each region, so sharp areas stay natural while blurry areas get corrected.
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
- Is fixing a blurry photo free?
- Yes. Magic Eraser's free tier includes AI Enhance for blur correction with daily usage limits. Premium ($29.99/year) removes limits and enables higher-quality output.
- Can AI fully fix a very blurry photo?
- It depends on the degree of blur. Mildly blurry photos (slight softness, readable text, recognizable features) can be restored to near-original sharpness. Moderately blurry photos improve dramatically. Very heavily blurred photos (shapes recognizable but detail gone) improve in overall clarity but fine details are partially AI-generated rather than recovered from the original data. The AI can't reconstruct detail that was completely destroyed by extreme blur.
- Does it work on motion blur from a moving subject?
- Yes. Motion blur from a moving subject (a blurred runner against a sharp background, a moving car with directional streak) responds to AI enhancement. The AI reduces the directional blur and recovers edge detail on the moving subject. Light motion blur recovers well; heavy motion blur (strong directional smear) is reduced but some directional softness may remain.
- Will it over-sharpen and create artifacts?
- The AI applies sharpening proportional to the detected blur, so areas that are already sharp receive minimal processing while blurry areas get stronger correction. This prevents the over-sharpened halo artifacts that aggressive Unsharp Mask in Photoshop produces. For already-sharp photos that don't need blur correction, AI Enhance applies subtle overall quality improvements without over-sharpening.
- Can it fix a photo where the wrong subject is in focus?
- Partially. If the intended subject is slightly out of focus (mild defocus, recognizable detail still visible), AI Enhance sharpens the subject effectively. If the subject is heavily out of focus (strong bokeh, no visible detail), the AI generates plausible detail based on the blurred shapes and surrounding context — an improvement over the blurry original but not equivalent to having focused on the subject originally.
